Canine parvovirus diagnostic tests
The rapid immunochromatographic test is designed to detect parvovirus antigens in dog's stool or vomit. The disease comes in two forms: enteric (parvoviral gastroenteritis) and cardiac (parvoviral myocarditis).
Symptoms: lethargy, vomiting followed by diarrhoea.
The body becomes dehydrated very quickly. The mortality rate for the enteric form is quite high, up to 50%. The cardiac form is characterized by sudden death.
Carrying out the test:
Material for the test: faeces or vomit
1. Remove the cassette from its packaging and place it on a flat surface
2. A stool or vomit sample taken with a swab should be placed in a buffer container and mixed well.
ATTENTION! THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL IN THE BUFFER CONTAINER MUST NOT BE TOO LARGE - THE SOLUTION WILL BE TOO THICK AND THE TEST WILL BE INVALID.
3. Place three drops of the sample in the A window using the pipette provided.
4. Wait 10 minutes. Read the results.
ATTENTION! Readings taken too early or too late may be distorted.
Interpretation of the results:
Positive result: two strips appear - control strip and test strip
Negative result: only the control strip appears
Incorrect result: no strip appears - test invalid
