Product description:
Redtest diagnostic test is used to detect dirofilaria immitis antigens in dogs and other mammals. The test is quick and easy to perform.
Disease description:
Dirofilaria immitis (Canine Heartworm) is an infectious disease of dogs and other mammals caused by parasites of the genus Dirofilaria spp. It is a roundworm that inhabits the pulmonary arteries of dogs. In the event of a large infestation, it can also appear in the right heart ventricle. The intermediate hosts are females of over 60 mosquito species.
Symptoms of the disease: Weight loss, appearance of reflex cough, rapid breathing and shortness of breath, fever, heart murmurs, signs of heart failure, jugular vein dilation, increased venous pressure, ascites and exercise intolerance.
The test should be performed 5-7 months after infection at the earliest.
Performing the test:
Test material: serum, plasma or whole blood
1. Remove the cassette from packaging and place it on a flat surface
2. Place a drop of material (approximately 10 μl) in the S window with the pipette provided and add two drops of buffer (approximately 80 μl) to the same window as soon as possible.
3. Wait 5-10 minutes. Read the results.
ATTENTION! Readings taken too early or too late may be distorted.
Interpretation of the results:
Positive result: two strips appear - control strip and test strip
Negative result: only the control strip appears
Incorrect result: no strip appears - test invalid
