Description
The REDTEST diagnostic test is used to detect Ehrlichiosis antibodies in dogs. Ehrlichiosis is an infectious multi-organ disease characterized by thrombocytopenia. The clinical signs are nonspecific. Initial symptoms in dogs include lethargy, weakness, and fever. This is followed by weight loss, bleeding from mucous membranes, enlargement of the spleen and lymph nodes, and sometimes mucopurulent nasal discharge. Other symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, arthritis, and neurological signs such as seizures and paralysis.
Whole blood, serum, or plasma may be used as the test sample.
